Welcome To Color Guard

A special "Welcome" to the Sandburg students who decided to join us for the Winter 2017-18 Colorguard Season.  We are excited to have you onboard and look forward to building those crucial relationships that continue to strengthen our team atmosphere.  As we grow, we no longer represent our school colors or allow room for school pride. We unite as one team - with one voice, and we challenge each student to strive for their individual best and support each other as a cohesive group.

The Difference between Fall and Winter Color Guard

Fall color guard performs outside with the Marching Band during halftime at football games and various competitions against other Marching Bands.  Winter guard teams perform inside, in a gym, on a tarp, against other winter guard teams.

Meet Your Color Guard Instructors

Kassie Pierson

I currently work as an assistant for a couple who are realtors, as well as being a full time student currently enrolled at Moraine Valley.  I started my time as a color guard performer when I was in junior high by participating in the Carl Sandburg junior high night performance.  I continued colorguard all the way through high school and ended up being a part of the Andrew winter guard team in my senior year of high school.  Once I graduated I was asked to join the staff and to share my love for colorguard.

Sara Janik Serratore

I attended Reavis High School and was a member of the color guard for 4 years (captain 1 year) and the winter guard for 3 years (captain 1 year).  We were the Midwest Color Guard Circuit Champions in Class A in 1994.  I also played the clarinet from 4th grade through college.  I performed with independent winter guards in 1997 and 1998.  I attended NIU and GSU and received my Bachelor’s degree.  I have been a Real Estate Appraiser (General Certified) since 1999 and have been teaching color/winter guards at various schools since 1997.  I am married with 2 kids (5yo and 11yo) who will eventually attended VJA.  I have worked with REGAP of IL (greyhound rescue) since 2004 and currently have two greyhounds (Dazzle & Dinky).

Krista

Krista Perez currently works at Ann & Roberts Children’s Hospital in Chicago as a Milieu Therapist.  She continues to positively impact the life’s of her students and shares a passion for the Colorguard activity. Krista began as a performer with her Alma Mater, Marian Catholic, and went on to be a part of a World Class Drum Corp. Krista is excited to expand her knowledge and passion of the activity to her students. She looks forward to bringing her skills and experience to Victor J. Andrew.
